bellwethr (and several others of you who've been passing out little Gmail invite candies) reminded me once more that
Google Answers promised Gmail accounts to its researchers. I actually am a Google Answers researcher, though I've researched exactly one question. Nevertheless, I feel I've
earned my Gmail account, straight from the holy Google source itself. Not like most of you other people... out there spreading invites like some horrible socially transmitted betatest.
Anyway, if you wanna say hi, I'm essentialsaltes at gmail.
Oh, yeah, and I got my Darkest of the Hillside Thickets t-shirt, featuring "Where the Great Old Ones Are":

Yes, this makes me really cool, but not one hundredth as cool as Toren, who drew it.

Date: 2004-06-23 04:46 pm (UTC)My personal theory on gmail accounts is that this is Google's ploy to get everyone to use them. Make them a limited commodity initially that everyone wants for the coolness factor, and then slowly dole them out until *surprise* they've saturated the market.

Date: 2004-06-24 03:15 pm (UTC)I have a similar pair made by some friends of ours that are pretty cool, except that the tentacles get in the way when I walk.
As for Great Cthulhu... in the words of one FAQ:
Cthulhu is a large green being which resembles a human with the head of a squid, huge bat-wings, and long talons (true, that doesn't really resemble a human, but bear with me here). According to H. P. Lovecraft's story "The Call of Cthulhu", Cthulhu rests in a tomb in the city of R'lyeh, which sank beneath the Pacific Ocean aeons ago. Cthulhu is dead but not truly dead, as he and his fellow inhabitants of R'lyeh sleep the aeons away. (Cthulhu is generally thought of as a "he" for some reason.) From time to time R'lyeh comes to the surface, and Cthulhu's dreams influence sensitive individuals across the globe to depict his image, slay, and found cults dedicated to him. In the past, R'lyeh has sunk after a short time, but the day will soon come when it rises to the surface permanently and great Cthulhu strides across a world thrown into chaos and anarchy from his telepathic sendings. He likes hugs, sunsets and long walks on the beach.
ok, I made that last part up.

Date: 2004-06-24 01:46 am (UTC)I could promise to keep all of you individuals apprised as to when we do another run, but realistically that would be an empty promise, so the really the best way is to join that group. Feel free to remove yourself once you get a shirt - I won't be offended.
Also email me if you want a specific size or colour. The image is too wide for girly shirts, I'm afraid....
How can I change my preferences so I'm not constantly logged out of LJ when I close my browser?
