Rebecca was struck by wanderlust, so at 8:30 AM on Sunday, we suddenly decide to go up the coast and hit the wine country around Santa Barbara. The surf was about as big as I've ever seen it. There were whitecaps everywhere and spray was being blown off the rocks, and blobs of sea foam were blown across the sands. The rain had made everything green (but not as green as Ireland) and the lupins and poppies were flaunting their sex organs all over the place. Finally ate at the Los Olivos Cafe, which is usually packed to the rafters; but the rain must have kept a lot of people away. Hit three of our favorite wineries (the ones that are easy to get to) and then zipped back down the coast, slightly heavier for the lucky 13 bottles of wine that we picked up.

Anyway, suffice it to say, there's yet more goddam pictures to look at. Check out 'Spume2'... left of center there's a little round white blob of spume, and you can see from the shadow that it's off the ground, float/bouncing its way across the sand. It's pretty isn't it? Too bad it's probably made of seaweed scum and fish poo.

yeppers, it was ridiculously green and pleasant up there. The dude who runs the Mosby wine-tasting is always interesting, too. He has the same patter every time we go in there, but it slowly changes... like whale songs.
