Who repulses me more?
May. 11th, 2004 02:42 pmThe defendants or the lawyers? Well, the defendants definitely win, but I think both groups need to be sent to Abu Ghraib (as inmates, despite their obvious qualifications for being on staff). Really nasty nasty link.

That's just *vile*. I hope the accused men rot in jail - with obvious consequences... *grr*

What's the kid's dad, the sheriff, doing and thinking?
Finally: how often does this happen around the world, and why isn't anyone doing anything to stop it?

Date: 2004-05-12 10:28 am (UTC)I'm just glad I live in a country where people (usually) are offended by the idea that women are to blame for rape. I just read about how murders of young women are up in Iraq, now that lawlessness prevails...young women who are found not to be virgins, whether consentually or through rape, are taken out and shot by members of their families, to "get out the stain" from the family honor.
It's bad, but it could be so much worse. At least here they try to cover their tracks....

No, here, boys believe they can do whatever they want, whenever they want. And they get to brag about it to others: "Look, I raped an unconscious girl! See how big my dick is?!"
True, it is worse in other countries. If an unmarried woman has sex (consensual or not), that woman's family gets to gang rape a woman (sister, usually) in the male's family. Sometimes with the male watching.
That happened, I think, in Afghanistan (could be wrong about country, but not the incident).
It seems that no one ever, EVER wants to accept responsibility for their own actions (especially the consequences). And women are one of the historially easiest scapegoats for bad behavior.
Sometimes I think we should just end the human race.
What a wonderful world we live in.

No, by drugging her unconscious instead of beating her unconscious, like they do in most places. The videotape was just to prove to their buddies how clever they were. Too bad they weren't clever enough to keep track of the tape.
Wonder how many videotapes out there don't get found...
