I suspect they did poach someone, or at least some of the strategies, since they seem to be aiming for largely the wrong market. They essentially have an electric Corolla but they have a showroom in the mall in Century City. Unlike the Tesla, it doesn't have any spectacular performance numbers to generate buzz, so it's largely under the radar. It certainly doesn't seem to be a bad car, but they need to compete with the Prius folk not with Tesla.
