I was poking through a book catalogue, when it struck me that it has gone out of fashion to use the title "The Works". Mainly because it sounds like a guy from Brooklyn getting a hotdog. And then it struck me that the reason (I hypothesize) a hotdog with everything is 'the works' is because The Works contains everything. And this appropriation has been so successful that it would now sound funny to call a book 'The Works'. And then it also struck me that 'The Works' is simply 'Opera', which has also gone out of fashion, since it has also been appropriated for another use.
