Same here. I was really wondering if there was just a bit that some folks had jumped on to prove he was racist, but... nope. That was some straight up racist shit right there. Wow.
In my previous job, I once had to drive to Watts and interview a lady who had worked for the transit agency I was then working for. She and her family were doing some really incredible charity work. I was almost certainly the only white person in miles when I pulled up to their house, and yet it never occurred to me to ask: "Hey, are you guys Intelligent and Well-Socialized Blacks?"
They were wonderful folks and put up with me asking them questions and recording them on my little recorder, and they put me at my ease (which wasn't easy, I was *so* out of place.) I managed to write what I hear was a well-received article about them, but it wasn't my writing that did it, it was their grace and their commitment to doing good.
And this asshole wants me to think I should have run away, because being around more than two black people means I'll be shot. Jeeeeeeeebus.
