Pretty good SciAm this month
Sep. 25th, 2011 12:18 pmOne of the more interesting stories was about the life and work of Franz Nopcsa, Transylvanian baron, geologist, paleontologist, open homosexual. Unfortunately, it has a sad tabloid-ready ending -- in 1933, he drugged and shot his lover and then himself. "The reason for my suicide is my nervous system, which is at its end. The fact that I killed my long-term friend and secretary, Mr. Bajazid Elmaz Doda, in his sleep, without him having an inkling as to what was going on, was because I did not want to leave him behind sick, in misery and in poverty because he could have suffered too much."
aaronjv, maybe another entry for your CoC rogues gallery?

But thanks! I might actually get to it before the year is out, though the aborted psychedelic drug piece has a publisher who's paying semi-real money for it, so that takes priority.
