that is the best "normal" adventure hook i've heard in a while.... The PCs are working for the CDC, investigating some mysterious deaths in Arizona.... no, not eldritch, just icky. =)
UCR has a cool insect quarantine/research lab facility.
What's really cool is that it's the most secure [publicly funded] quarantine lab (after the CDC and some other place in Minnesota). You also always hear a sucking noise when you're inside, which occurs whenever a door is opened, in case anything tries to escape.
