I must admit, I kinda like the proposed source image. I find it refreshing to see the trope rendered with two very real human beings, who have nothing to be ashamed of.

Nothing to be ashamed of? Are you serious? Look at that picture again - stamped out of crappy stainless steel, with some sort of nigh-useless brass crosspiece, probably described by the marketing people as "elven", with the quillons oriented in such a way as to direct an oblique blow into, rather than away from, his hand. I, for one, am disgusted.
