We celebrated President's'' Day by hiking around Caballero Canyon. It's one of those not-very-well-planned loop trails that has an unenjoyable section along a street. In this case, a steep upward slope along Reseda Blvd. past characterless tract home McMansion enclaves with snooty names and fountains at their gateway.

A section of the hike is also along Mulholland Drive, but since it's part of the unpaved section that's closed to cars, that's perfectly okay. Most of the hike takes you deep enough into the wilderness that you can't tell you're in Outer Tarzana. It was a bit cool out, but nice to wander about in the green. A few flowers and blossoms here and there, and an incredibly cute and incredibly shy bunny. photos

I like to support the arts in my 'hood, but Beacon Arts' latest communique mentions an 'Experimental music bagpiper'.

Spammers on my LJ are getting to be a problem. Don't they know everyone's left LJ for FB? Anyway, may have to close off anon comments.

I largely have bailed on LJ, but yes, I'm getting a lot of spam here too, which I find out about because it e-mails me. Unfortunately, I can't close off anonymous comments because the main reason I'm still keeping this thing open is my lottery scam database, which still gets replies from time to time. Oh well.

Is there not parking at the top of Reseda by the park?
Curiously I just discovered that park the other day. We had tried to be overly ambitious and go buy groceries with Robin in tow. She decided she wasn't happy unless she was in a moving car, so I found myself driving around Reseda, exploring, while Cort got shopping done.
I was sort of shocked by the housing developments up there. I had always thought of the houses in the hills being much more interesting, and I hadn't realized any big sections had been developed with these cookie cutter development houses. That was a bit depressing.

We tend more often to hike the area In the San Vicente park at the top of Hayvenhurst. Not only is it offleash (less relevant to you) but they have a great old missile base to explore there.

There is parking at the top, but the 'loop' trail doesn't take you back to that spot, but rather rejoins Reseda Blvd. way down the hill.

I've sorta had a yen to visit one of the Nike missile bases, but apparently not a very strong one, since I still haven't been.

I just got some spam, but it came through my private message mechanism on my User Info page, not a comment.
