Over 500,000 single family houses and condos that were purchased between July 2003 and June 2008 will be reviewed by the county assessor. After April 1st, owners will be able to check this website to see if their home is part of the review.

Hm. That's quite a few friends who bought in during that period.

When I did my 05 taxes I came out owing quite a lot. (How much? I was still laughing the next day.) The lady who worked with me to do the taxes (who I think didn't do them exactly right, but never mind) admonished me to buy a condo and "hide my money." I thought she was crazy at the time. I had a feeling that I could barely pay my bills as it was. In the last year I've become ever so thankful I didn't take her up on that idea.
