Clearchannel was forced to give up its partial ownership in 2005, I think. It's currently owned by spanish language outfit Entravision, which I guess explains why the new format will be "regional Mexican rhythmic and cumbia music."
when I heard about this, the first thing I thought is that I will never have a show with Joe Escalante called "Pescante & Escalante" or even better, "Pescalante." Damn. Also, they were our best bet for LA-area mainstream radio play. My friends in Oppenheimer (virtually unknown here) and in The Yelling (unsigned) were played and promoted on that station...
Oh is it that time of year again? the 103 spot on the dial seems to be where interesting radio stations (that aren't exactly public) go to die. there'll be another one along later this year.

P.S. I had a dream about you. Will post later. ;)
