Save Our City - Debrief & Spoilers Galore
Dec. 2nd, 2007 10:48 amHerein is the spoiler-laden discussion of my Save Our City puzzle rally in Los Angeles.
I will be posting the puzzles at some point in the near future, so if you didn't play, you will still have that opportunity. Do not read further, or the game will be spoiled. Go here for spoiler free discussion and reactions.
The best of the mission photos can be seen here.Except that Team Delorean didn't have the technology to download photos. Their photos of Marilyn (St. Vincent's Court) and the Park Plaza Hotel were perhaps the very best. They also had great photos of Randy's (who didn't?), the Lady of the Lake, and Johnies. They also had awesome bonus pictures of 'old auto in motion' and they were the only team to get a car being washed at a private residence.
Best of the bonus and a few random pictures.

Re: locations (part two)
Date: 2007-12-03 01:49 am (UTC)Jonnie's: This was mean, as we didn't think it was the correct place. We talked to the guys at Jiffy Lube across the street, who kept wanting to tell us about a pie place over at Florence, but I knew it was a bust location (no pies). The guy kept talking as I was driving away.
Echo Park plaque: We lost it here. We couldn't find anything, despite driving back and forth, and walking the street twice. I got out to check, even, detaching myself from my Ford life support system, but as soon as I did, I had to pee. Right now. So I let my team go, and thought briefly of going somewhere on this wonderful street, but instead flipped around the corner to piss next to a locked Andy Gump over the freeway. I ended up spotting the animals from the car (amazing, considering it was dark and my contact lenses were fogging up), but we couldn't find the plaque.
We did find, however, a number of nice neighbors eager to help (although not magnanimous to all teams). Plus, there were other kids taking photos before one house that were suspicious (but not with us).
MacArthur park/building: what is that building? It's cool. I thought there would be a clue about the caraytids.
Barnsdall Art Park - wanted to use this for ChronoAgents, and still regret I have never seen it during daylight, nor been inside. It has a cool history behind it, too. I'm pleased to say this was one puzzle I figured out all by myself. I think it was the only one.
We had the address/clue for Via Rodeo, but there was no time left to get it. We lost a lot from the missing dead animal, including getting stuck up at the LA DWP light show, thinking that was the puzzle. If we had been a few clues ahead, K would have figured out at least the direction to go from the dead animal turn, simply by the location of the clue after it.
I regret that, for the most part, I really didn't see much of this. I saw a lot of cars, traffic, and a speedometer for most of the game. Some day, I'd like to visit these places, during daylight, when I can walk.

Park Plaza Hotel. Available for receptions and filming.

That was my feeling after ChronoAgents (I drove). It was maddening to be outside the Bradbury Building (which I hadn't yet seen) and unable to go in. I think I've now seen most if not all of the ChronoAgents locations.
