Interesting stuff from a big new poll

"As has been true in previous years, Muslims are less popular than people of other religious faiths but more popular than atheists. Muslim-Americans and Muslims are seen less favorably than Jews (72% favorable), Protestants (70%), and Catholics (69%), and slightly below evangelical Christians (58% favorable, 18% unfavorable). "People who aren't religious" receive favorable ratings similar to Muslims (50%), but the public has a more unfavorable view of the non-religious (33% unfavorable). Majorities of the public continue to give atheists an unfavorable rating: 52%, compared with 34% favorable."

Americans are also more likely to vote for a Muslim than an atheist. Asked whether they had reasons not to vote for a candidate with a particular religion, 14% said they wouldn't vote for a Jew, 15% wouldn't vote for a Catholic, 20% wouldn't vote for an evangelical, 31% wouldn't vote for a Muslim, and 41% would not vote for an atheist.

What do you think about atheists?

And I contend that most people think atheists ARE pederasts, among other things (amoral, mostly--you can't be moral without some god in your life, right? Look at how terrible Mister Mike is).

I think we need to set up a rights advocacy group.

Telemarketers have been defeated with the don't call list. Spammers are next to be up against the wall.

Aaron likes to think he's frightening, but he's really just a cute little teddy bear.

Um, don't tell anyone, though. It'll ruin his reputation.

Well, I'd rather like to think of myself as a complex human being, with emotional and intellectual depth plus the potential for great good or great evil. Just like everyone else.

Interesting, though...some people think I'm like a teddy bear, others would think of me as a damned-to-hell atheist. I can be anything and still be nothing (worthless in the grand scheme). Am I negatively capable?

Life's kinda cool that way.

And yeah, it's just me. I don't know how to add a cute amusing picture, nor am I about to sign up for a blog (although, I must admit, if K and I get a kitty like we're planning, the idea of the cat having a blog and just railing on and on about the stupidity of humans does have its appeal).

Sorry to hijack your e-life, Mike.
