I think I've mentioned that I occasionally read the local newspapers, since they put me in touch with my community. Like the article about a fight over getting a variance for a driveway somewhere in the West Adams area:

"Cole-Gowala is not only fighting Green, she is fighting the evil United Neighborhoods of Historic ... Communities Neighborhood Council, whose white members have been on this case like rice. ... Black residents have complained to me that [white people] invade our better neighborhoods like locusts"
