KevM and DebM hosted a fine St. Paddy's Day celebration. I sampled four whiskeys and gabbed with friends, loved ones and people I barely know but see once or twice a year at Deb&Kev parties. Because I am evil, I pulled down Deb's highschool yearbooks and gawked at the wee cute-as-a-bug little Debbie snack cake. Then later, Kev lifted me and used me as a bludgeon. Good times.
This morning, a couple of us at work took a little interlude to see the new visitor flock to our fair city.
The swallow may fly south with the sun or the house martin or the plover may seek warmer climes in winter, yet these are not strangers to our land.

What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

And in other views:

This thing is like an empty Lego castle of air.

I was glad to read that Airbus finally relented and decided to fly into LAX, especially after our airport agency put out 8 million bucks for it.
Of course, god help us if the transit authority tries to put light rail into the airport, because that might conceivably cut down on parking concession fees, and... well.
I'll have you know that I am in no way bitter at the way LAWA managed to fuck our city over 15 years ago. Not at all. Perhaps some day, like other actual intelligent cities in the world, it will be possible to take a train from the airport to the heart of the city and other points of interest.
