The upshot: love won
Jun. 3rd, 2008 04:29 pmBy way of Anna Quindlen, I am informed of some ancient Roman references to 'gay marriage'. Surely, they are comedic or satiric, but interesting nonetheless, like this bit of Juvenal:
A: Tomorrow at dawn I've an obligation to perform in the Quirinal Valley.
B: What's the occasion?
A: No need to ask; a male friend takes a husband and invites a few guests.
If we live long enough, this will happen, and happen openly; they will even want it reported in the city gazette.
