Life in the Hood
May. 10th, 2005 07:51 pmBang! Bang Bang Bang Bang!
An interesting contrapuntal theme to my dishwashing this evening. Followed shortly after by two black Utes jogging up the alleyway, furtively.
I didn't see any bodies, and the people at the garage weren't cowering in fear, so the fun was all over. The po-pos arrived in a few minutes, and I went out to say what little I saw of the two running away. One of the other witnesses said that one of them was holding his arm funny, as if maybe he'd been shot. I hadn't noticed that, but it's very possible, since one officer was checking out a blood trail that ran up the alleyway.
5-0 hung out for a while, but they're gone now, and all is peaceful once more in Inglewood.

Date: 2005-05-11 01:22 pm (UTC)It sometimes strikes my 'Wood, too. One late afternoon, I had walked to some event at a nearby church. It was evening when I walked back and found DEA agents crawling all over my street carrying big guns. One officer said to me, "Go inside. Now." I was denied the satisfaction of hearing gunfire, but I did get the thrill of being bossed about by a man with a big gun.
