US Census figures show that the number of people below the poverty line increased by 1.3 million in 2003. Ditto for the uninsured. This is the third straight annual increase.
In related news, ten Nobel Laureate economists have endorsed Kerry, charging the Bush Administration with "fiscal irresponsibility [that] threatens the long-term economic security and prosperity of our nation."
In other news, the top campaign issue seems to center on whether Kerry bled enough to deserve his Purple Hearts in Vietnam while carrying out a hazardous assignment that he volunteered for in a war he volunteered for.
