RIP Leon Knopoff

essentialsaltesI was sorry to hear the news of the death of Prof. Knopoff. I had him as a professor for a class or two, and also assisted him as a TA, and bumped into him occasionally when I worked at IGPP. He was invariably cheerful and enthusiastic; both qualities were also invariably infectious, with happy result.
