Thwarted but Sated
Oct. 10th, 2009 01:57 pmWe headed down to the LA Opera costume sale only to be thwarted at every turn (quite literally) by street closures for the Full Rights for Immigrants March, which had Broadway closed from Temple (i.e. 0th) to 12th Street. So when I get off at 4th hoping to cruise down 4th to Alameda, there is a freaking wall between me and and my destination. Everyone else on the streets is in the same boat.
After a long time, we get around it and when we get to the costume sale, there is a half-block long line of people waiting to get in.
Fuck it, Dude, let's gobowling to Wurstküche. So we did, and had an awesome lunch, with awesome beer.

Date: 2009-10-10 11:52 pm (UTC)Oh, no! I'm sorry you were thwarted. I got there at 9:19am and the line was way around the block by the time they opened at 10am. They were letting in people only 50 at a time. The Marquise and I stood there, practically chewing through the railings to get in as we watched peasants take our clothes. Alas! I did score a brocade coat but nothing else. The professionals came with metal racks and cleared out most of it. By 1:45 everything was gone.
