I couldn't help it.

I bid on the Houdini/HPL astrology lot.

Wish me luck, but I expect someone with deep pockets to blow me away. Which may be a relief.

Wow, that's really cool! Good luck (or not, if the bidding gets too steep). :)

I'm glad you posted the original link to the auction--I've been watching it with some interest. I've been sorely tempted to bid myself, but I'm not sure how my wife would take it...

There's lots of potential wives around, but how many unpublished Lovecraft manuscripts are there?

My wife (a manuscript expert who is keen on transcribing it) is not as adverse as I had thought....

Kitchen remodeling be damned. :)

Whether you get it or not, at least you won't regret not having tried!
I still regret not shelling out the big chunk of money for the Vance Integral Edition I was eyeing years ago. Now the prices have jumped way up and I still can't justify it.

I, too, am very interested in getting a transcript of this.

So much so that I am offering $100 for the right to get/have such a thing ($250 more to Mike?). Maybe if we all pool our resources together, we can purchase it?

No, of course I am not thinking of the Simpsons episode "The Origin of Radioactive Man", not at all.

It just happens that I am currently writing a CoC RPG scenario starring Houdini. And I need some more inspiration.

If I win it, Elegantly Amused Press will publish it. But I can certainly get you the first transcription, though I doubt it will offer much in the way of inspiration.

So happy that'd you'd publish it.

It also seems a thing of awesome enough that I'd pitch in to buy it as well. Perhaps just get a bunch of folks to pool in cash to buy it, then offer a split of revenue from the publishing, assuming it nets anything..?

I can pretty much guarantee that it will not net any profit.

As it turns out, a syndicate has already formed to pool cash. Someone with deeper pockets than I is going to bid, and I've idiotically offered him money to help outbid myself.

Well, I hope you won... I snuck a bid in during the last minute, but someone has much deeper pockets!

Nope, I believe my syndicate failed.
