The player knew what was going on, the character didn't.
Except the one time where I (player) honestly thought I (character) was still in the Destiny Lab, looking at the ghost of one of the other characters. And when that character then floats into the Lab, I had a little mental meltdown. Especially when that character starts running neurological tests on me, asking me questions like "Where are you?" and I say "the Destiny Lab of the ISS", and she's like, "No, you're not."
For a brief moment there, I really was a little freaked. How about that for a gaming tool? As a GM, tell one player one thing, and tell all the other players something else.
