When I become a Bond supervillain and/or the benevolent dictator of Earth, I may take the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco as one of my estates. Here's some more interesting construction photos.

Philippe's makes their own mustard in-house. They go through 40 gallons a week. Their 100th anniversary is October 6th, and they'll be serving 5 cent coffee and 10 cent French Dips. (don't tell Cole's)
Ashley [Whippet] first gained notoriety on August 4, 1974 when Stein, then a 19-year-old college student, smuggled him into Dodgers Stadium during a nationally televised baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds. Stein jumped the fence and went onto the baseball field with Ashley, where he threw discs (Frisbees) for the dog to catch. The crowd was in awe at Ashley's disc-catching ability, as he ran up to 35 miles per hour and leaped 9 feet in the air to snag the Frisbees. The stunt was so novel that the game was stopped and Joe Garagiola continued to announce the flying disc action on the field. Finally, after eight minutes, Stein was escorted off the field and arrested.

The pen-tailed tree shrew "is the first non-human mammal known to display alcoholic behavior."
"The flowers of the bertam palm produce nectar which naturally ferments—with the aid of several yeast species—to a 3.8 percent alcohol strength, similar to that of many beers.

The animals spend an average of two hours per night sipping the nectar, which appears to be their primary food source."
