The White Stripes new album is entitled "Icky Thump," which is a slightly modified version of ecky thump, a Northern English dialect phrase expressing surprise or disbelief. Other appearances in popular culture include episode #42 of the Goodies, in which Ecky-Thump is revealed as a Lancashire martial art. And the Language Lab sketch in episode #31 of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
