Red Ants with Green Beards

I didn't do very well at elucidating the research, but here (apologies to Lewis Carroll) is my effort:
A quirky command of his Queen
Forced a red ant to dye his beard green,
But he thought of a plan
To employ a large fan
Behind which it couldn’t be seen.
