ticket to ride
May. 3rd, 2003 04:26 pmMorning - went to Junior's for breakfast. Probably the last time ever. I wasn't enchanted the first time I ate there, and this time it was appalling.
There's hardly anyone there when we arrive, but we get shown to the booth with a big rent in the seat 'fixed' with electrician's tape. *Both* of our knives are dirty with crusty food-crap on them. They are replaced, and my new knife is also dirty. I check more closely and my fork is dirty also, but I can pick away the tiny foodscab stuck in between the tines.
The service and food were lackluster, and I have no idea why it's so expensive there. I could have done just as well at Denny's or Norm's or Delores', at two-thirds the price. I think perhaps I am not Jewish enough to understand what's so great about Juniors.
Summary - 50% of the cutlery we saw at Juniors had dried food stuck to it.
Midmorning - Rebecca and I get a tentative reservation on a trip to Austria and Germany. Ten days in June, starting in Vienna and winding up in Munich. Or perhaps I should say starting in Wien and ending in München. We're taking a package tour for the first time. That's because we are now old, crotchety, retired people.
Noon - Get cable installed that we don't want, because Comcast is evil. For the moment, it is cheaper to have both cable internet and cable TV than to have cable internet alone. No doubt they will up the price eventually, but by then we will not be able to live without the Home Shopping Network, QVC and the five channels that show continuous car ads in Spanish.
Afternoon & Evening - we'll see
