Trust Rob at Cockeyed to put the tsunami disaster into an interesting perspective.

There's plenty of worthy causes to choose from. I donated today to IRD, who impressed me with their emphasis on building infrastructure and economic development, and by the fact that they had already been working in Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Certainly the immediate needs are severe and demanding, and the IRD is working to meet them, but these longer term goals may help to ameliorate future disasters.

Other than graphing a bunch of numbers, I don't know the point of comparing tsunami deaths to 9/11. One was an attack, the other due to nature. Emotionally and psychically, the effects were very different.
