Well, if you're going to be passing through Flagstaff on a weekend, Pam and I would be more than happy to make a day trip up there and at least meet up with you and Rebecca for lunch. Flagstaff's a pleasant little town and worth a trip to escape the heat in Phoenix. There are a few good used bookstores in Flagstaff, the best of which is Bookman's and the second-best of which is Dragon's Plunder. You also might find the Lowell Observatory (where Yuggoth was discovered) interesting and Sunset Crater is just 20 miles north-northeast of town.

If you're coming from Mesa Verde and plan to stop at Meteor Crater (which I've read is $12 per person for admission), there's plenty of cheesy stuff along I-40. Holbrook has a number of dinosaur-related points of interest, although I've never visited any of them and can't vouch for their merit. Unfortunately, you'll miss the fun of being in four states simultaneously at Four Corners. But, there's the plus of driving along Route 666 from the Arizona/Colorado border down to Gallup. Don't forget to check RoadsideAmerica.com before you go anywhere.
