Adventures in bad astrophotography
Look at the size of that thing, whatever it is!
I think it has an atmosphere!
In related news, we succeeded in our mission to grill at least once per calendar month in 2008. An after-work evening in the middle of December added to the difficulty level. While we stood around the fire, I believe the mercury plummeted past an arctic 60 degrees. Still, layers, red wine, and filet mignon can help Man overcome such adversity.
dark_of_night deemed it "possibly the best steak I have ever eaten... Evar!" So the year's practice is paying off. I would also like to thank Mrs. Cow for unselfishly giving of herself.
In the dark, bits of the charcoal chimney was glowing red-hot, which can be seen indistinctly here:

SomethingAwful has modified 50's commercial art for the Photoshop Phriday. I find this strangely compelling as an artistic examination of the female subconscious in the Eisenhower era.
Printroom --> flickr
For what it's worth, pictures from our 2003 trip to Germany and Austria have now migrated to flickr. One must remember that in 2003, pixels had to be flown individually by carrier pigeon from Europe to America, so the images are pretty small compared to modern multimegapixel images.

3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Hazel Court RIP
Hazel Court passed away recently.
She starred in Curse of Frankenstein, The Raven, Masque of the Red Death, etc.
This provides me with an appropriate excuse to link to this photo.

In more positive news, the Library of Congress is putting its photo archive on flickr, with "no known copyright restrictions". Some of you costume-o-philes will probably dig the 30's and 40's in color, where you can take a gander at tomatoes like this one or this one, or perhaps you're a sucker for flyboys.
Oh, and Stemagen says they done cloned peoples.
