After serving Los Angeles for 35 years, Rhino Records' Westwood store is closing its doors.
Aron's Records, a Hollywood institution for 40 years, is also going out of business.

First, the bookstores vanished, now the music stores. TV maybe killed the former, and the internet maybe killed the latter. I suppose people grew sad and nostalgic when livery stables and buggy shops went out of business, too.

Reading this makes me really sad. I love Aron's-great selection and cheaper than other stores too.

Much as I love Amoeba Records, they got blood on their hands.

Anybody know how the Penny Lane stores are doing?

The one in westwood closed down a few months ago. I think they're doing ok in Pasadena, but I haven't been in there in a while. I think Amoeba and Second Spin have definately had an impact, and of course online stuff.
