First LA Noire, now GTA V

GTA V Trailer

The game is set in Los Santos, which is the Los Angeles analogue from GTA: San Andreas, still my favorite from the series. It's not quite LA (frinstance the Hollywood sign is the Vineland sign) but it was close enough that you could use your LA skills to navigate it, though it was rather compressed in size. This version of quasi-LA bids fair to be even closer to the real thing.

I was amazed by just how much the trailer looks like Los Angeles. Many of the shots made me think of specific streets or intersections. Whether the game is good or not, the art directors deserve major kudos.

The trailers don't show the city very much, but LA Noire did an amazing job as well. Even if it's 1948, you often know exactly where you are. Check out this 'then' and now comparison.

That's pretty impressive. L.A. Noire just came out for PC, but with Skyrim and Arkham City both landing imminently, I probably won't pick it up for a while.
