Couple things fell off the shelves. But Rebecca has now brought me a dram of the Lagavulin I got at the Duty Free shop, so all's well.

And there were two others on top of that one -- a 2.5 and a 3.1.

Glad you're alright!

Yeah, I was outside working on the war when it hit. After the initial jolt, I braced for the roll, but none came, and I went back to work.

Boy, I hope you meant 'car', because I don't want to know about the war you're working on.

Yes, car. I have no idea how the "w" got there...

I highly recommend FINDING FAULT, which I just read, which points out how many features of our daily lives (for me, those included the hillside turf course at Santa Anita; the 10-215 interchange; Whitewater Canyon; Cajon Pass; that dip in Page Mill Road in Mountain View that turns out to have been the San Andreas) are created, affected, or potentially destroyable by local faults.

Have fun with that La Puente thrust fault thing :)

I freaked the fuck out. Made wee-wee in my pants and the cat hid under the bed for an hour.

No doubt you suddenly recalled what I said about your living on top of unconsolidated sediments tellingly called "La Cienega".

no, the major reason for my freakout was that i realized that i had forgotten to buy strawberries. now i was going to die in a earthquake without strawberries.
