Hot beef, hot links and more hot links

Becca and I had the best BBQ ever on Saturday. Nice thick filet mignons accompanied by various vegetables on the barbie. Washed down with some of the wine we brought back from Santa Barbara and it was pretty magnificent. A far cry from the early years of Mikeandbecca, where I think the only meat we ate was the freeze-dried kibblets of 'meat' in the Cup o' Noodles.
Sunday we hit some swap meets. First, the very underwhelming offering at CFI-West. Followed by the much more excellent Melrose Trading Post at Fairfax High. Lots of good stuff there. I picked up some paperbacks from a guy with a lot of good freaky stuff: Oscar Wilde's Fairy Stories, Some short stories by Aldous Huxley, the Continental Op stories of Dash Hammett and Darwin's Origin of Species.
After fleamarketing, Rebecca had a yen for Pink's, so we hit the place pretty early. No line. Unbelievable. While other Angelenos were ensconced in Church, I was worshipping a 10" stretch chili dog.

And now for the two o'clock news:

This is how Aaron's Hollywood Blvd. stunt could have gone horribly wrong.

Let's hear it for the, ahem, Mounties.

Public Service Announcement: Huffing and smoking don't mix. (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] sjo)

END OF THE WORLD SCARY NEWS: Ebola in London.

I've been wanting to go to the Trading Post for a while... do they have any interesting instruments there?

not really

I saw a few really beat-up keyboards and a couple ancient multitrack mixer/recorders.
A couple sellers had plenty of vinyl.
