Paul Kurtz's name brings back a fairly strong memory. The first time I saw his name was when my dad was watching taped episodes of the John Ankerberg show, and I was probably between 5-8 years old, and I was just kind of hanging out watching, too. I remember being very drawn to the subject matter, since it was Kurtz vs. Norman Geisler. I didn't know either name, but after watching for about 20 minutes, that Paul Kurtz guy was making a lot more sense than the other guy.

At which point I said as much. And my dad told me, no. And I was confused. I asked who I should be "rooting" for, and he told me Geisler was the Christian, so it should be him. So I tried to shift my little kid brain into getting behind the other guy, but nothing he said made sense. Kurtz was spewing bible verses in a supportive, sensical way, and Geisler wasn't.

So, I remember Paul Kurtz (and Norman Geisler) as the guys involved in my first case of obvious cognitive dissonance as a Christian.
